Our Tree of Peace & Light
Our summers are blessed with the presence of day camps and our year is filled with ESL, Scripture sharing in Sunday to Sunday, Centering Prayer; Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Laudato Si Circle, weekend retreats, days of prayer and, when possible, even housing the homeless.
All of you are a very real part of this. Your help, spiritual and economic, keeps us going. We pray your generosity will continue.
Blessings!
A letter will be sent to the honoree or family of the person memorialized to acknowledge the light you have added to our tree. You will also receive a letter of your donation.
Dear Friends,
Just a few days ago Roxana showed me the picture from the New Settlement Day Camp which you see in this brochure. My heart swelled with emotion. It looks so much like the pictures of Marydell Camp down through the years. I knew where my feelings were coming from. This picture says clearly the charism of the Sisters of O.L. of Christian Doctrine is alive and well!
Often our Marydell Board of Directors will ask what happens to Marydell when the Sisters are no longer here. This picture, and the others you see here, answers the question. Things are already set up so that with good leadership, the mission of Marydell, the charism brought here by the Sisters almost 100 years ago, continues. Yes, this year we celebrate one hundred years of the Sisters coming to Nyack!
On July 16, 2024, Mother Marianne was given the deed to this property, and she and two other Sisters immediately set out for Nyack. Almost immediately the Sisters began bringing the people from Madonna House to Nyack. In a short time Marydell Camp was born.
From the beginning retreats, day outings, picnics, & celebrations have been among the services rendered at Marydell. Today this service continues. Our summers are blessed with the presence of day camps. Our year is filled with ESL, Scripture sharing in Sunday to Sunday, Centering Prayer; Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Laudato Si Circle, weekend retreats, days of prayer, and, when possible, even housing the homeless. All of you are a very real part of this. Your help, spiritual and economic, keeps us going. We pray your generosity will continue.
Blessings!
