Celebrating 100 Years of Marydell

1924-2024

For the past 100 years, Marydell in Upper Nyack has had the privilege of serving God’s people. In 1924, a group of sisters from the order of Our Lady of Christian Doctrine moved from the lower East Side of New York City to Nyack. For 61 years we were known as Marydell Camp, an eight-week overnight camp for girls. In 1990, we became Marydell Faith & Life Center, running a number of service and religious education programs out of the office on our beautiful grounds.

Throughout the last century, Marydell has welcomed and served all who have stepped onto its grounds, focusing efforts and energies on meeting the needs of those from underserved and underresourced communities. Today, as well as being holy ground for many people who come here to pray, Marydell hosts a language program for new English learners called One-to-One Learning, a number of recreational and summer day camps for children, a swimming and water safety program, an educational children’s garden and field kitchen, a production garden for the St. Ann’s Food Cupboard, a range of retreats for individuals and organizations, and many other programs that aim to support the wellbeing of those in our community and beyond. Our calendar is also full of reservations for events and celebrations for groups who want to enjoy the natural beauty of Marydell.

We who love and serve at Marydell would like to think we will be here for many more years to come. For that we need your help.

First, we invite you to attend the June 15th Marydell Centennial Celebration with us. The ticket price is $125 per person. The celebration will feature wonderful food, music, dancing, a short presentation, an exhibit of historical photos and items, and the opportunity to reconnect with old and new friends who share your love for Marydell.

Second, we invite you to sponsor our celebration and future work at Marydell. Your support of our mission is deeply appreciated and recognized at any level. You can explore sponsorship opportunities and make a donation on our website or by calling the office. You will also find a list of sponsorship possibilities below.

We look forward to celebrating this special time for Marydell with you. When we think back on all of the good things that have happened on our grounds through our work and time together over the past many decades, we feel grateful. We are excited about the good things yet to come as we look toward the future.
